Here are some of the local and regional causes that Fork & Pencil currently supports:

Rooftop Films is a “non-profit film festival and production collective.” Their words. We think they are doing some wildly innovative things to get folks watching small independent films... like showing them on the rooftops of old warehouses around New York City, in parks, and even on boats. Rooftop films also actively supports their filmmakers, using a portion of ticket charges to support their work. Fork & Pencil has worked with Rooftop to produce a mini-festival of short films for children.  www.rooftopfilms.com

The Open Space Institute is New York State’s largest land conservation organization. They do it right. Leveraging their expertise to save critical habitat and open space in the Adirondacks, the Gunks, the Hudson River Valley, in Columbia County where our Chatham store was located, and actually across the entire East Coast.  Check out OSI, you’ve undoubtedly been somewhere where they’re working. www.osiny.org

Council on the Environment of New York City is the group behind all the farmer’s markets in New York City. Check out our neighborhood greenmarkets at Boro Hall and Carroll Park, and support local farmers, eat fresh food, and just feel righteous. The Council is also active in recycling and education. www.cenyc.org

Our local schools are the anchor of Cobble Hill.

The community that is fostered through the schools is immeasurable, and our kids have fun at recess, to boot.
